The other day I was talking Lexi on the phone at work and I heard something that I couldn't believe: Christmas music. I am not even sure if it was Halloween yet. I thought...it's not even cold yet how can she listen to Christmas music. (The thought hadn't come yet that that in some places in the world, that it isn't cold at Christmas with 6 inches of snow outside. Believe me I am still in denial and I think it's still September. Yet, I am trying to cope and I have now started to deal with that fact and it makes me dead inside...very sad I know..but dad has just offered to take me hog hunting with him. He says that will make me feel cold...hmmm not really what I was going for dad...but thanks!)
Anyway...because I want to be just like Lexi (she even getting her CDL...very impressive in my book...she's such a Texas woman) I have decided to bust out the Christmas music. I was going through and picking out my favorites which is hard cause I have a lot. But I have decided to list my top 10 favorite Christmas songs. And here they are...in no particular order:
1. God Rest Ye Merry Gentelmen - Bare Naked Ladies with Sarah McLachlan
Nobody can rock it like the BNL!
2. Carol of the Bells -
I must love this song because I have 10 different verisions of it. I think Mannheim Steamroller's is my fav because it's the one they play on Home Alone...one of my favorite Christmas movies.
3. Christmas in Dixie - Alabama..it always makes me cry
4. Jingle Bell Rock - Bobby Helms My first grade teacher Miss Rutherford taught us the lyrics and I have never forgotten them and think of her ever time I hear it. I should tell her that next time I see her...I always see her at the grocery store these days....
5. Jingle Bells - Barry Manilow
This is the funnest song to sing ever!-especially during rush hour and as animated and loudly as possible! After all the best way to spread Christmas Cheer, is singing loud for all to hear!
6. Last Christmas -Wham!
I have no explanation...I am sorry I just love it...don't judge me...
7. Mary, Did you know? Kenny Rogers and Wynonna
It's just a beautiful song and they do it really well, very moving.
8. Rocking Around the Christmas Tree- Brenda Lee
It reminds me of my mom.... and Home Alone
9.Where Are You Christmas? Faith Hill
I have never seen the movie it's from, but it's is also a good one to sing loudly to...and maybe cry a little as well. ( And if you think crying to music to abnormal...don't worry it's genetic...just read my sisters latest post entitled:I Need A Good Cry)
10. Honorable Mention: Baby It's Cold Outside - Buddy the Elf and Jovey
Ok so maybe it isn't like a real part of the movie but she has a great voice and it's my favorite part of the movie!
Ok so there you have ! I am now in the official Christmas spirit! Even if I have no snow!

I am so proud to be such an inspiration. I feel the need to curtsey and say "thank you, thank you" hahahaha. I have been listening to Christmas music all weekend on one of my tv music channels. AWESOME!! In response to this Jamye said "Ugh, Christmas music, already?"
PEOPLE! ONE MONTH OF CHRISTMAS MUSIC IS NOT NEARLY ENOUGH!!! I HAVE to listen to it for close to 2. HA! I usually start at the beginning of November but last week was the first official week I began, so it is a bit late for me.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Oh and there are a few on your top 10 that are on mine as well. And I love your #10. Hehe...I still need to watch ELF!
Hey Ellie! I'm a huge fan of Christmas music--all year round in fact. And I have to agree with "Aunt Lexi," December just is not long enough to enjoy it. What BUGS me is the retail world having all their decor out before Halloween!
I'm excited to listen to all of your picks of your Christmas favs. Your blog background gets me in the holiday spirit as well! You are always using the CUTEST backgrounds--I love it!
What about Vince Vance and the Valiants, All I Want For Christmas Is You? I wonder what station will start playing only Christmas music the day after Thanksgiving? I think they've reformatted. Whatever will we do?
Yes, you blog is very cute and festive! As always. But look at mine, I did myself and didn't erase anything.
Elle... your #1 song is my FAVORITE Christmas song!! It is confirmed again.. we are soul sisters...
Hey Darling
WE HAVEN'T talked in FOREVER!! =( So I love your new background and your list. I love Christmas music too but I just can't get into it YET. it's too warm here! not warm like wonderful, or maybe it is just because the year has FLOWN by, but i am still in shock that thanksgiving is next week. and by the way, POOR THANKSGIVING!! it is such a great holdiay but it usually gets overshadowed by Christmas. how about the Thanksgiving song by adam sandler????
love ya!
Elle I remember when you used to start listening to Christmas music on Halloween day! What happened to you?
No Santa Baby? Cuz bet you could sauce that one up pretty good! But I have to say Baby it's Cold Outside by Buddy and Jovie is one of my top 5 and I CAN NOT WAIT to watch that movie this year!
